I love the MTC. I had a couple of great experiences today. This mrning we went ot the RC. I called a guy named Joel Henderson. When he answered he said something like "Trinity Church of Christ", and I thought, oh crap he probably just ordered a copy of the Book of Mormon just to prove it wrong/argue it. Well I said my spiel, and asked if it came in the mail, and he said it did and that he has read a bit. I was excited and asked what he thought. He said it was interesting and wanted to know more. Then I got really excited! I bore my testimony and committed him to read 3 Nephi ch. 11 and Moroni 10:3-5, and asked him to pray about it. He said if he had any questions that he would call, but then I told him that I could call him back next week to check up and he said he would like that. Yea! I was pretty exited. I hope he reads and prays about it. Also today, our teacher, Bro. Williams told us to teach the 2nd lesson and squeeze in the Word of Wisdom in there, but follow the spirit and focus on their needs. So we taught our "fake investigators", and we were told that they had a Word of Wisdom problem. But what we didn't know is that instead of telling the fake investigators they had a Word of Wisdom problem, their needs were that they wanted to know more
a bout Christ. We only had 15 minutes to teach, so we had to get to know them, teach to their needs, and follow the spirit.
Well, as we taught our lesson (thinking the investigator had a Word of Wisdom problem, because that's what Bro. Williams told us), we didn't even talk about the Word of Wisdom, but focused a lot about Christ's Atonement. It was a really neat experience. No one in our district talked about the Word of Wisdom! If we follow the spirit as missionaries, when we teach, we can be led to know what to say, and how to say it to fit the investigator and their individual needs. Every lesson will be different, but it will be just what the investigator needs to hear.
