WOW! The first full day in the mission field has been AMAZING! We woke up this morning and ate a delicious breakfast prepared by President and Sis. Beck. Then we had a group scripture study, and a lot of mission orientation and training. Then at 11:30 am the moment of truth came. We met our trainers. My first companion in the field is Elder Cain, from Payson, Arizona. It is crazy because his first name, and middle name is the same as mine! (Tom Ray) And even more our initials are the same - TRC. After we met our trainers, we ate lunch, then packed up and headed to our areas. We had to drop Elder Child and Elder Johnson off in Concord before we went to San Ramon. In the car the trainers (Elder Child and Elder Cain) asked if we liked rap and said they had a Ludacris CD, and put it in. I though oh crap. My trainer is supposed to be the example and be obedient but as the CD played, it was just classical music. I was so relieved, and they had their laughs. After we got to our apartment in San Ramon (which really isn't too shabby), and I got all unpacked, we went tracting. It kind of scared me, but Elder Cain did most of the talking today. I think I did one door, but I would always join in any conversation we had with anyone. People are nice here. One Asian lady told us right when she opened the door that she was Catholic and didn't want to waste our time (because she was not interested) but invited us into her home and gave us a glass of ice water. She said "We are all Christian!" She was so nice. We stayed for about 20 minutes and listened to her talk. After tracting we came back to the apartment and set some goals. Goals for the transfer and goals to be unified as a companionship I love Elder Cain already. He is going to be a great trainer. He is so charitable and very wise. I'm looking forward to learn a lot from him. I'm so excited to be here on my mission. It is going to be great.
